Removing the wreck of an aircraft Douglas A-20 from the floor of the Baltic Sea
Challenge
Communicating the action of removing the wreck of the aircraft Douglas A-20 from the floor of the Baltic Sea in a way that builds the brand of the National Maritime Museum as an innovative and dynamic institution. The action was conducted by the National Maritime Museum and supported by the Navy and LOTOS Petrobaltic. The aircraft came from the Second World War and is the sixteenth preserved historical treasure of that type in the world. It is a precious object for the Polish museum.
Strategy
The “tailor-made” communication addressed to broad audience: national and regional media, specialist, economic and tourist media. Main topics used in the communication included: the team responsible for the action, innovativeness of the project and importance of actions taken by the Museum to protect the national heritage.
Execution
Preparing the communication plan, key messages, press materials, Q&A, organising and moderating the press conference and presentation of the wreck of Douglas A-20 in Gdynia Naval Base, current media relations, positioning of Museum experts in media, communication advisory.
Effects
The project generated over 230 publications about the Museum in media, they reached over 5 million people.
